Mid-Year Games Exhibition at MDS
Media Design School’s Faculty of Creative Technologies (Game Art) and Faculty of Software Engineering (Game Programming) held their inaugural Mid-Year Games Exhibition last Friday, which gave the New Zealand games industry an exclusive preview of the graduating third year students’ final projects.
In their third and final year at Media Design School, our Game Art and Game Programming students work collaboratively in groups in order to create an industry level, commercially viable game. This year, they created two exciting new titles: Dungeon Town and Xenolore.

About the Games:
Xenolore is a sci-fi inspired action RPG with visceral, party based combat and a wealth of interesting, deep, and sometimes bizarre characters! Take control of any of your characters in real time while giving orders to the rest of the group in order to survive. In combat you have an array of combos at your command, dynamic dodges and a variety of other skills – while out of combat you can converse, craft, and change the world to your heart’s content. Try out this fantastical narrative driven adventure, and discover what mysteries threaten the Zalmei Archipelago and the multiverse beyond.
Dungeon Town – a unique dungeon crawler bringing city-building elements together with skilful characters battling their way down into the dungeons for glory and treasure. The town construction and layout in Dungeon Town challenges the player to construct the most effective town, which in turn enables powerful skills for the characters. In order to build a town you need resources, and there is only one place the resources are found; the dungeon underneath the new found city. Build up your town, up-skill your character; go deep down in the dungeon for more. Gameplay trailer:
